Chair 8 Employee Spotlight: Leta Kate - Project Manager

At Chair 8, great work starts with great collaboration — and for the past three years, LK has played a huge role in keeping our projects, clients and creative team moving forward.

As our Project Manager, she brings organization, thoughtfulness and a steady hand to everything from complex campaigns to day-to-day client work. She has a knack for turning a lot of moving pieces into a clear path forward, while making sure both our clients and team feel supported along the way.

As LK celebrates three years at Chair 8, we sat down with her to talk about the projects she’s most proud of, what she’s learned along the way and what she’s looking forward to in year four.

Is there a project you've managed that stands out as especially rewarding? What made it memorable?

There are so many to choose from! If I had to pick one, it would be the Holt Brothers Foundation 25th Anniversary Video. Hearing the stories of the families they’ve impacted over the years and getting to work with their team on such a meaningful project was really special. We also created their 25th Anniversary logo, so it was fulfilling to see the branding and content come together so seamlessly. Projects like this are a big part of why I love what we do.

If Chair 8 had a theme song this year, what would it be?

Now or Never from High School Musical 3. We’ve been on a roll with our projects this year, and the build up of this song encompasses how passionate our crew is.

If you could instantly master one new skill, what would it be?

I’d love to be fluent in Spanish! Duolingo and I are still at the beginning of a very long journey, but I’m committed. For now, my Spanish is mostly limited to singing Como La Flor by Selena with questionable confidence.

What's one thing people might not realize goes into being a great project manager?

You have to be an efficient translator. There are many different ideas, personalities, and timelines to consider. It’s the project managers job to unite these into a plan that both the client and the creative team can get behind and get excited about!

What's your favorite part of working with our clients and team each day?

My favorite part of working with our clients is helping bring their vision to life and getting to build a relationship with them along the way. As for the Chair 8 team, I’m proud to be part of such a supportive group. Everyone genuinely wants to see each other succeed, which makes working together a joy!

What's something people might be surprised to learn about you outside of work?

I’ve been to 43 states mostly by route of RV on family trips growing up!

What's your go-to Charleston recommendation—coffee shop, restaurant, activity, or hidden gem?

  • Coffee Shop: BKeDSHoP is a must! On Saturdays, they serve cronuts (croissant + doughnut), and they’re absolutely worth trying.

  • Restaurant: For seafood, Coast downtown is phenomenal and definitely one of my favorites. If I’m craving BBQ or a burger, Melvin’s is my go-to.

  • Hidden Gem: Soft serve from Zano’s at Shipyard Park!

As you start year four at Chair 8, what's something you're excited to learn?

It’s crazy to think I’m beginning my 4th year! I’ll be working towards acquiring my CAPM certification, which will teach me additional skills to hone my project management craft.
